THIS EXCELLENT PAINTED PLYWOOD cutout of a Wesclin soccer player decorates the front yard of real-life Wesclin sophomore Robert Robison, who plays for the Warriors. The wooden player, constructed and painted by Robison's grandfather, is nearly life size and features Rob's number and likeness. Wesclin's boys soccer team opens its season this weekend in the Metro Cup tournament in Belleville. ![]() |

Wesclin Fall Sports Underway
Wesclin High School fall athletes have begun their respective seasons, with most of the early activity starting this weekend when the football team travels to Chester for a 7 p.m. opener; the soccer team competes in the Metro Cup tourney put on in Belleville by Metro East Lutheran High School; and the volleyball team heads for Marissa for their season-opening tourney. Wesclin's boys soccer team will play their tourney opener Friday night at 6 p.m. against Civic Memorial. The Warriors will play Anna Jonesboro at 10 a.m. Saturday, and Breese-Central at 2 p.m. Pool play will determine the championship matchup on Monday. Wesclin's golf team starts their season today (Wednesday) at Central, followed up by a match at Carlyle tomorrow. The golfers also play in the Okawville tournament this Saturday, followed by matches against Carlyle Monday and Columbia Wednesday. Wesclin's junior varsity football team will host Chester on Monday.
